Red Snapper Cigar Company

Getting the Men of Binghamton in Trouble Since 2007.
Are you kidding me?

As part of his $620 million budget gap closing plan, our elected Governor David Patterson has proposed yet another tax increase on tobacco products. This time instead of the recent jump in the past year from 37 to 46 percent (since we've opened our shop) he's proposed to raise the cigar tax to 90%. Yes, that's right, we said 90%. While all of this nonsense in Albany is going on, the governor has already attempted to raise our tobacco license which just last year was $100/yr to a ridiculous $5000/yr which is currently in litigation. For some idiotic reason Patterson doesn't have the brain to figure out that people can simply go online and purchase their cigars from another state for $0 in state taxes and avoid all this BS all together. We want to encourage all our patrons to call their senators and try and talk some sense into the moron tax happy democrats up in Albany and tell them creating a tax to push products onto the black market and destroy small businesses like our shop is not an intelligent answer to solving all the problems they've created for this otherwise great state we live in.

Think of the Red Snapper Cigar Company as James Dean crossed with Lynard Skynard. We're a hell of a good time but you can still take us home to meet the parents. The idea of the Red Snapper Cigar Company was formed over a couple stogies and a late night back porch BBQ by founders Nathaniel McCoy and Michael Copt during a warm summer evening. Living in a time when men are encouraged to highlight their hair and pluck their eyebrows, the two envisioned a place where men & women, bikers & business men, rockers and krooners can come in, sit back, be themselves and enjoy a quality handrolled cigar. The only frosted tips you'll find here are the glowing embers of the finest selection of cigars in Upstate New York.

In a town once known as "Carousel Capital of the World" we've found a home in one of the finest communities on the East Coast. As it turns out, Binghamton was once the "Cigar Capital of the world" when 35,000,000 cigars were turned out of the downtown Binghamton factories in 1864. We've humbly embraced our heritage by naming our little cigar joint after the Red Snapper Cigar, the most popular of all the cigars to come out of Binghamton. Made of 100% smooth Havana filler and costing a whopping 5¢, the Red Snapper Cigar was a sight to be seen and definitely a cigar to be smoked.

Come in today and we'll walk you through our 900 Sq. Ft. humidor and guide you through our extensive collection of hand-rolled premium cigars. While you're here, be sure to check out our general store and grab some Snapper gear or pick up a quality cigar humidor or cigar accessory.
